2023 Fasting

As I reflect on 2022 I think about all the goals and exercise diet plans I tried.  Many people try and many people fail when it comes to exercise and diet.  There is no doubt in my mind that exercise and diet are the two ways to lose weight and feel healthy as stated by every doctor personal trainer or exercise enthusiast I have ever spoken with.

Let's discuss what worked.  I don't like to focus on things that don't work or give me unwanted results.

Let's talk about fasting.  For 7 months I decided to fast for 16 hours a day every day.  I learned that fasting actually gets easier to do the more you do it. First,  I experienced mental clarity.  I found that I was able to focus on work and solving problems with this clarity of mind.  Stress was also reduced.  I was less worried about what I was going to eat and more focused on ways to exercise.  The best part of fasting was the weight loss that I experienced.  I have not seen the kind of weight loss I experienced in years.  I was able to cut over 50 pounds in 7 months.

I will advise a word of caution when fasting.  Fasting should not be done for this extended period of time without water. Also supplement your fast with Magnesium, electrolytes and creatine. All of these supplements will have positive outcomes on your fast.  Magnesium is great for preventing cramping.  Electrolytes are great for reducing headaches and nausea to get through your days.

In conclusion, fasting is a safe and healthy option for many people out there looking to lose some serious weight.  Is fasting right for everyone?  The simple answer is no, if you are pregnant or your body is still developing then you should consult a doctor before fasting.  There are other ways of fasting I tried a 16:8 approach, but there is also a 12:12, and many other options out there.
I wish you all a bright and successful 2023!
